Linux and IBM Thinkpad 390X Type 2626-J0G

It's my story. I just got IBM Thinkpad 390X (IBM P/N 390J0RE).

  • Mobile Pentium II / 400
  • 64 SDRAM
  • 6.4GB(ATA-4)
  • 24X CD-ROM
  • 15" 1024x768--TFT-active matrix
See Detailed Specifications.
Windows 98 has been pre-installed with two partitions: C: (2Gb) and D: (all the rest).

Linux installation

  1. Re-partition the disk with cfdisk. Now it is:
    Disk /dev/hda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 789 cylinders
    Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
    /dev/hda1 * 1 261 2096451 6 FAT16
    /dev/hda2 262 273 96390 82 Linux swap
    /dev/hda3 274 468 1566337+ 83 Linux native
    /dev/hda4 469 789 2578432+ 83 Linux native

  2. I installed slackware-7.0 without any problem.
  3. Now Linux is running!
  4. Here is XF86Config, which works.
